“Pure, solid greed”
In 2021, Lumcloon Energy secured planning for a 275MW gas-fired power plant in Westmeath on the basis of providing grid support. Then in 2025, they sought permission to build an enormous 250MW data centre adjacent to that same gas plant, effectively privatising the same energy infrastructure that had been justified as serving the wider grid.
The best part? You’re paying for it!
Westmeath County Council failed to recognise the bigger picture. Credit to the people of Rochfortbridge for challenging this and bringing the proposal under the scrutiny of An Coimisiún Pleanála.
“People felt that when the first planning application was approved for the power station, there was always a bigger picture that we weren’t told about”.
Rest assured for East Galway, we have documented evidence ensuring that ACP will be fully aware of the bigger picture.
