We’ve had a busy few weeks and are in the process of finalising our submission to the applicant’s FI response. One technical expert has stated that the standard of the applicant’s EIAR is the worst they have ever come across (and they’ve seen a lot of them!). This enormous proposal’s approval would result in our area hosting over half of the entire country’s 2030 limit for emissions from electricity.

A reminder the deadline for submissions on further information response to An Coimisiún Pleanála;

• Gas Plant: 15th June (5.30pm)

• GIS Substation: 15th June (5.30pm)

• Battery Storage: 18th June (5.30pm)

If anyone has any questions around content for submissions please feel free to DM us, we are also providing information on key points to build a response around. Submissions may include any matters that you consider relevant and you may refer to any documentation or supporting material that you consider in support of your submission. Information on how to submit is below. You can submit opinions on one or all three.

For Gas Plant: https://online.pleanala.ie/en-ie/sid/observation

• Gas plant application number: 320095

Your €50 fee will be refunded if you have already made a gas plant submission in 2024 directly to An Coimisiún Pleanála

For GIS substation: https://online.pleanala.ie/en-ie/sid/observation

• GIS substation application number: 320094

Your €50 fee will be refunded if you have already made a GIS substation submission in 2024 directly to An Coimisiún Pleanála

For BESS (battery storage) project: https://online.pleanala.ie/en-ie/sid/observation

• BESS application number: 320916

Hundreds of people have already submitted to this in 2024 at Galway County Council level, who ended up refusing it. If you wish to add to your BESS submission however, An Coimisiún Pleanála will charge €50 to do so.

Finally, building a case strong enough to stand before An Coimisiún Pleanála takes more than volunteer effort. We’ve had the help of excellent professional expertise throughout this process, including this observation window. If you’re able to chip in, anything at all helps keep this fight properly resourced and winnable;
